To our past, current, and future Blue Collar athletes…

Why does Blue Collar Endurance Training work the way it does?

This founder’s breakdown aims to concisely outline for you why everything in BCET is built and structured the way it is. All while keeping my thoughts raw, unpolished, and honest.

Runners consistently come to BCET saying these things among others. They want a result. Running a PB, winning a state title, or completing their first half-marathon. They want structure. A training schedule so they know what to do. Or they’re just tired of being confused by the training garbage all over social media. When crafting our two packages. I wanted to uncover the actual feelings behind what runners were asking for.

Runners didn’t actually just want a result, but rather a proven roadmap to get there. That’s why I wanted our Coaching Staff to be backed by decades of true, elite-level experience. They also didn’t just want structure. What they really wanted was confidence and clarity in their training. That’s why I wanted to give our runners personalized notes, communication, training definitions, and learning resources. So they can have the tools to understand it. And as for social media garbage? I wanted BCET to be a breath of fresh air in a world of smoke and mirrors.

Odds are, without social media, you would not be on this page reading right now. It’s where people tend to discover BCET. Since the beginning, our content has aimed to help athletes that want to learn. We want athletes that watch our videos to know it’s coming from a source that they can actually trust. We create content in good faith and aren’t afraid to retract if we’re wrong. The intent came first for us, the clicks and views just so happened to follow.

Honesty, Autonomy, Cutting-Edge, Competitive. I want BCET to be a company that doesn’t lie to people. I want our services (Coaching and Training Camps) to help runners develop their ability to make decisions and act independently. I want our services to constantly be in pursuit of the most advanced and innovative point of progress. And I want the business as a whole to have a strong desire to win and help people be successful.

An original member of the Macintosh development team was once quoted saying “It was like there were dozens of little Steve Jobs’ running around.”

I think about this a lot when it comes to recruiting potential BCET Coaches. The Coach has to have “lived” in the NCAA system, be competitive about everything, and be in pursuit of knowledge on the cutting-edge of training. I want lifelong learners that are fired up to pass down knowledge through experience and truth. If they don’t match or better this standard, it simply isn’t going to work.

When I was in high school, I used to invite (with Dad’s permission of course) all the best runners that lived within an hour and a half of me to come visit. We’d hang out, they’d stay overnight, and then we’d all train on the dirt roads the next morning. I was trying to mimic a professional-style camp from what I had grown up watching the pros do. A group of like-minded runners living and training in one place for an extended period of time. I only ever got that for two nights at the most.
When Summer Altitude Camp was launched, the whole mission was to give young runners the pro-level experience I wish I would’ve gotten. It has since become a one of one training camp experience. Nothing else like it exists in the United States. My hope is that our Winter Camp will soon follow it and I can’t wait for it to grow as well.

Which path is right for you?
