WHY WE CREATED WINTER BASE CAMP
We constantly see talented runners struggling to reach their potential. They’re frustrated because they have the talent, but lack structure, support, and consistency. Winter Base Camp was created to give distance runners a foundation. In a location where high-level coaching, warmer weather, and honest guidance come together to set the tone for the upcoming track seasons.

Only 4.8%
of male HS athletes advance to compete at the NCAA level.
Just 1.9%
reach Division 1 competition.
Nearly 50%
of all runners experience a running-related injury each year.

Athletes ranging from grades 7-12 are eligible to attend camp. You do not need to be a certain performance level to attend. Developing runners can benefit just as much as elite runners can from our camp.
You do not need to be a BCET athlete to attend, current clients and new athletes are welcome.
Since camp takes place in Tallahassee, FL. The recommended airport to fly into is Jacksonville International Airport. We do provide campers free transportation from JAX to our reserved Airbnb(s). Ideal flight arrival time on the first day of camp is before 2:30pm Eastern Standard Time. We will depart for camp once everyone is present and accounted for. There is a space on the camp registration form where you can provide us with your flight info and arrival times. Parents are more than welcome to come visit during camp, just confirm with your child or a BCET Coach to plan a time to do so.
Specific logistics such as where to meet at JAX, etc. will be discussed in the weeks leading up to camp.
Athletes stay in Airbnb properties reserved by BCET, with each house supervised by a BCET Coach. They help mentor our athletes while living alongside them through the full camp experience. Each property will house no more than the maximum number of guests allowed by Airbnb to ensure comfort and safety. In the event of a medical emergency, our coaches are present and committed to taking care of your child.
We ask you to provide us with your health insurance provider and policy number during registration. That way we have it in case of medical emergencies.
To see an example of what a typical day of training might look like, scroll up to view our sample daily schedule. To learn about our coaching staff, click here to view our “meet the coaches” page. Our coaching staff is made up of decades of combined NCAA experience, every coach is well equipped to adjust training depending on an athlete’s ability level. If your athlete is more injury-prone, we’ll help them not only properly adjust their training, but better understand the injury itself so we can put the issues fully behind us.
Meals are all included in the camp registration costs. However, there are certain occasions where we go out to eat for an evening (Ex: Downtown Tallahassee) or stop for food while on the road (Ex: St. George Island Trip). We recommend that campers bring some money to have with them for these occasions.
We make large grocery runs and load the pantry at the houses up with snacks for fueling between meals. If you have your own preference of snacks that you don’t like to share, bring it with you to camp!
The full cost of camp is $1,300. It includes transportation to and from JAX, lodging, meals, coaching for running, coaching for strength training, strength facility access, trips to State parks and beaches, a full metabolic assessment (with consultation), media (both photo and video), and a course preview of the World Cross Country Championship Course. You can view our pricing breakdown here.
Winter Base Camp uses a single straightforward payment model and does not offer payment plans like Summer Altitude Camp. However, if you would like to request reserving your spot through a deposit followed by a payment plan. Please schedule a call at the link here to discuss camp cost and payment further.
We recognize that things happen. But due to overhead costs that come well in advance of camp, cancellations within one month (30 days) of camp cannot be refunded. Cancellations outside of one month (more than 30 days) before camp will receive a 75% refund.
Our mission when we first created our two training camps was to provide opportunities for young runners in their training that we wish we had when we were younger.
It takes a lot of work behind to scenes to be able to offer these events to young distance runners that desire to get better. All we ask is that if you decide to attend, that you come with discipline and a willingness to learn. Those two things alone will elevate the entire experience for everyone involved.
